The ranker program itself imposes no limitation on the number of users.
However, it will be affected indirectly through the choice of the
security mechanism (which may depend on the number of users).
1) Depending on whether we go with VPN or SSH tunneling, the
part of the program that talks to the database will be different---but
this will not affect the program in a major way.
2) If the number of "external" users becomes so high in the future
that neither VPN nor SSH tunneling is acceptable, then we might
have to use a Web-only solution. This would require major changes
to the current ranker, more development work, and possibly setting
up additional services (such as an application server) on papio.
