[Babase] UPS devices

Below is what we got on IT's recommendation, though it is rather more than
Karl is saying we need for Dumbo (and pricier than the others Lacey looked
up, though we got a discount for trading in older devices). It does specify
the wave form type in the specs, so I guess some sellers will tell you and
others won't. It seems to be a fairly new issue so some may be more on the
ball about it than others. I am not sure if cheaper ones are available with
sine wave though - I think they are more expensive to produce that way
and/or the manufacturers are only bothering to use true sine wave in their
higher end models at this point. First step is to see which type Dumbo
uses. If it is not true sine wave then I think any of these cheaper models
Lacey found that don't specify a wave form type will work.
The tech (I think that's the Dell tech - it took our guy a few tries to
figure out what the problem was in the first place because he had never
encountered it before either) recommended the following UPS model that is
compatible with the new Dell PCs: APC Smart-UPS 750VA USB & Serial 120V.
The following link provides info on this model:

Interesting. I've never thought about this.
I could open a ticket with eracks.com and ask
them about dumbo. (We've got a year warranty.)
They'll probably help with the external drive
too, although we did not get it from them.
The problem is the UPS specs don't mention anything
and the only way to find out is to hook it up to
an oscilloscope. Maybe the best choice is to
just try it an see if pulling the power plug on the
ups crashes dumbo.
Could we ask Axel or Sal?
Ryan, do you have any suggestions?
