You only need the fake_cycgaps if there are CYCPOINTS after the
birth. If data goes in "in timewise order", as it happens in
real life, this is "automatically prevented".
So, in a 6 month interval
I'd only expect problems for births that occur early in the
interval, where the female "has time" to resume cycling.

If you update cycles month-by-month, as you would when updating the
db under normal circumstances, you don't need fake cycgaps _ever_
if you input births as you get to the birth month. This
is probably a good input strategy. It beats getting an
error when entering a birth and having to put in a fake gap,
add the birth, and then take out the fake gap. Although
there's not that many births, and fewer where you'd get an
error because of the 6 month input interval.
