[Babase] Agonism and Grooming Dates

Lacey,

We did not always enter the dates for grooming. I only asked you to in
anticipation of this change in practice. For this update I was planning to
get rid of the dates as we were not ready to use them yet.

Leah

[Babase] Agonism and Grooming Dates

Leah (and everyone),

I got a chance to analyze the dates, and I was wondering, when we
enter the data, from photo copies to excel, we are entering an exact
date for the groomings. When does that get lost, and why? I guess my
question is, IF we are going to continue to push all groomings to the
1st of the month, do we even need to be entering those dates in the
excel sheet, do we want to start entering them with true dates, or what
are we ultimately wanting to do with this? This is a question for
everyone I guess. In terms of the agonism data, with the help of Karl's
query, I looked at 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997 month by month plotting
each day of the month. Susan and I discussed the results and it looks
like from 1995 on, agonisms were entered with true dates. The
distrubution is pretty even across the days of each month. But like
Leah had said in an earlier stream, grooming data has always been pushed
to the first, with some point samples exceptions, except in 1994-1998.
In those years, every grooming was pushed to the first. Hopefully this
can help us to in some way move forward, now that we have some concrete
time frames for when things were and weren't pushed. Karl, what is
needed next for you to be able to run the conversion? Do you need more
than what I have provided here?

Lacey
