This discussion has caused me to reflect that when very bad storms
happen we can lose power for days. The max we've been out is 6 days,
that was in the winter of 2002 or 3, don't quite remember. It happens
in NC because of all the trees, which bring down power lines.

What will we do if that happens? Bring Dumbo to Duke until the power
comes back on? (Duke has its own generator).

Having said that, most outages are just a few hours, or up to a day.
Day-long outages are not that uncommon (about once a year).
