Dear all,
Karl and I talked about progress and the next few weeks/months.
The interpolation continues to be challenging, and I should say that
we are grateful for the effort that Karl is putting into this, as it
is central to the database. He had to essentially restart the writing
of the program just yesterday (although presumably can build on what
he had already written) because it was not working.
This pushes back our conversion date, and makes 18 May unrealistic.
However, Karl feels that 24 May is realistic (this is 3 days before I
leave, my departure date is now May 28).
Karl will either leave Duke on 18 May as planned or he will extend to
24 May. He will decide that in the next day or two.
if he leaves Duke on 18 May, he will try to continue to wokr on the
conversion while he is in Chicago. We talked about the fact that this
has not worked before, but we desperately need it to get done now. We
just need the conversion so badly now, and it is really within reach
now, so hopefully that will help keep him working on it even if he
leaves.
He will be in Chicago 25 - 29 May as karen will be there. Then he
will go to Princeton and continue working, with the aim of completing
the program conversion by end June. He will need to be in Chicago
and/or Denver between roughly 10 and 18 June, and will need to be in
Asheville NC on 25 June. As the time approaches he and Jeanne (and I
from Kenya) will work out the best schedule for June, but the first
part of it he will spend in Princeton.
Karl please correct if I got anything wrong.
Susan
