Hi Hunter,
Ran out of disk space on papio:/ last night.
The db in /var filled it up.
I now have the database itself in
/scratch/pgsql/data/base/ and a link to
that dir in /var/lib/pgsql/data/.
(FYI I tried moving the db and somehow trashed it
so wound up rebuilding it.)
I don't know if /scratch is the best place for it.
You may have had it elsewhere than /var/lib/pgsql
and I may have broken this when upgrading postgresql.
I wouldn't want some regular purge or another to
empty /scratch and loose the db, but I didn't want
to put it anywhere you were backing up with rsync.
I could not recall everything you told me about
your disk organization and backup strategy and could not find any
written docs and this was the best I could come
up with. (Seems like it should go in /local/database/
somewhere but I wasn't sure....)
Let me know where to put it.
Do you have docs for your disk layout/backup plan?
