Hi Everyone -
Another week, another summary.
And official documentation of Steph getting foiled by technology: Steph
was supposed to call everyone using Susan's phone, in order to conference
everyone together. Unfortunately, Susan's phone was not working, and the
lab phone was proving too difficult to conference. And, so, Karl called in
later. So once again, we had separate chats. Congrats to Jeanne, though,
for being at her phone right on time! Yippee!!
Summary I: SLC, JA, DO.
1. We all received Karl's email that he has gained access to Daphne's
computer. Much happiness all around.
2. Daphne is almost done entering the dcauses. So close, we can feel it...
3. Tdates: update - JA and DO will look at these soon - although most
likely after JA returns from the ABS meetings. They will target the groups
and years that SLC had concerns about (see email from 5 May).
4. Steph is going to work on the hybrid data as her first "other datasets"
project.
5. Future calls: next week, JA will not be partaking in our "conference"
calls. Karl, Steph, and Daphne will chat. The week after that, just Steph
and Karl will chat.
Summary, part II: Steph's chat with Karl.
1. In the next few days, Karl will send SLC instructions for running
conversions and checking errors. SLC needs to look into how to look at the
data in Windows - and make sure to get line numbers on the output. If
there isn't an obvious program/choice, SLC may work just in Unix (eek!).
SLC also needs to consult with Hunter at Duke about the easiest way to copy
files between login.biology.duke.edu and her desktop. So, the overall
plan: (a) Karl will automate the conversion stuff as much as possible, (b)
he will then email instructions to SLC, (c) we then worry about
interpreting the output. [NOTE: Steph is a little nervous about
this...please send good thoughts and chocolate].
2. Karl and Steph will likely talk again soon in order to facilitate SLC
up and running with the conversions/checking.
3. Karl was going to call Jeanne to check in. If there's anything to
report from that conversation, could one of you please pass on a summary?
'Til next week,
steph
