After a conference call between Susan, Karl and myself today, a decision
was reached about how to handle to Agonism data. We found that before
1995 agonisms were pushed to the first for the most part, with a few
data points scattered throughout the later days of the month. It was
decided that since it is impossible to know the validity of the dates
prior to 1995 that every instance of grooming should be pushed to the
first. This will include any data which do not currently fall on the
first being moved to the first, so that there should be no data existing
on any day but the 1st of each month for all years before 1995. 1995
through current will be assumed to have true dates for agonism.
Grooming is not so straight forward, and we are in the process of
figuring out whether or not before 1995 grooming was entered in the same
fashion as agonism or if they were treated completely differently. I am
going to take some time to search through the database to determine if
data were pushed to the first on every instance or not before coming up
with a single concrete rule, or group of rules for treating grooming
data. With these issues resolved, Karl will be ever closer to that
fated day of conversion!!! YAY! I will continue to keep you all
apprised of further developments about grooming data.

Cheers,
Lacey
