Thanks for the reminder Karl. In this case, the sheer volume of the  
data may make this impossible for us at this point. As a starting  
point, what if Lacey and Lindsey (who will be entering the data)  
duplicate some specified chunk of it -- say, one year for each of the  
groups? - and see what the rate of difference/error is. Lacey, would  
this be possible? I do think that some thing like this will be  
important especially if you are proposing to enter directly from the  
notes. This means that you will simultaneously be "translating" the  
data in coded format, and entering it. It would be good to get a  
sense of how error-prone this is (although I accept your point that  
it is not all that difficult with these data).

And, of course, we will have two people proofing, with a switch in  
roles to make sure that the enterer is not re-duplicating her  
original errors.
