Hi Karl,
Just in case you need a quick reply, here's my two cents (based on a very limited understanding of PCS)...
I think the color changes when (1) the female is pregnant and then (2) after birth or a fetal loss. As far as I know, females that are just cylcing regularly and not conceiving won't have any color change.
