Hi,

I've built and installed postgresql 7.4.6 using the source
rpms from Fedora core 3. I hacked the spec file to get
it to build, turning off ssl and kerberos, although
I could have done it from the command line with
rpmbuild --define ssl=0, I think. While I was at it
I customized the version number. It's all installed
with sudo rpm -U ...

No reason not to replace what I did with something newer
and stock when the time comes.

However, there does not seem to be enough room on
the / partition, so I softlinked /var/lib/pgsql/data
to /usr/local/var/lib/pgsql/data. This is bound
to screw your rsync backup scheme. Feel free to
put more space on / and move the database back, or whatever.

(There _could_ have been enough room on /, especially
if I deleted the current 350MB of 7.3 database, but
it wasn't worth the hassle of maybe running out room once
the database was running.)

I do want /usr/local/var/lib/pgsql/data/{db_hba.conf,
postgresql.conf} backed up please.
