Hi,

I kept getting kicked off the conference call while we
discussed this, but after a minimum of research
I believe this is an affordable way to go.

These say that Kenya uses GSM on the 900
and 1800 (MHz?) frequencies.

Here is a device that seems like it would work:

811714 - Wilson Cellular SIGNALBOOST Mobile and Home/Office 900/1800MHz
(European/Asian Frequencies) Dual-Band Inline Amplifier Kit
http://www.wpsantennas.com/811714-wilsoncellularsignalboostmobileandhomeoffice9001800mhzeuropeanasianfrequenciesdual-bandinlineamplifierkit.aspx

Works off 12 volts too.

Note that I do not know what I'm doing but this does
not seem too difficult to get right. I'd bet that someone
who knew what they were doing could put a directional
antenna in and get serious gain.
