Hi,

To support immigrent males we allow estimated rank dates.
For varous reaons we allow estimated consortship and
dispersal dates too.

I've changed the db and updated the docs. The old
docs still had the columns in the biograph table.

I've appended a diff showing old and new text forms
of the documentation. I'm still not working with
a spiffed up version of the docs so the old lines
are really way too long. You might be better to
ignore them (as I'm sure the mail will wrap
the lines and all the '-'s will look lost and
confusing) and just read the new text.

We'll have something better as the web site comes
up but I wanted to show changes somehow.

died or disappeared at the same time or shortly before said
individual. The legal values
for this field are defined by the DCAUSES support table. See below.
This field may be
blank (contain a 0) in which case the individual is still alive.
-k)	Matured
-The date the individual reached sexual maturity. This is the date
of ?menarche? for
-females and the date of testicular enlargement for males. All
sexually mature individuals
-should have a non-blank value in this field. For females, this date
should be the first ?T?
-date recorded for the females sexual cycling data in the CYCLES table.
See also the
-Mstatus field. This field should only be blank for non sexually
mature individuals.
-l)	Mstatus
-Sexual maturity status. This field records the quality of the sexual
maturity date. When
-this field is empty the sexual maturity date is from recorded
observation, or there is no
-sexual maturity date. When this field is E, the sexual maturity date
is estimated as
-follows: for females; 4.5 years after the birthdate for all females
except those in Lodge,
-which are estimated to be 3.5 years after the birthdate; for males,
5.5 years after the
-birthdate. No other values are allowed. The legal values for this
field are defined by the
-MSTATS support table. See below. This field may be left balnk.
-m)	Ranked
-The date the individual first attained a rank among adults. This
field may be blank, either
-because the individual has not yet attained rank, or because the date
on which rank was
-attained is unknown.
-n)	Consorted
-The date the individual began its first consortship. This field may
be blank, either
-because the individual has not yet consorted, or because the date of
first consortship is
-not known.
-o)	Dispersed
-The date the individual (male) left its maternal group Care should be
taken when altering
-this date because the change in location of the individual should also
be recorded in
-MEMBERS. This field may be blank, either because the dispersal date
is unknown or
-because the individual is a female or a male who has not yet
dispersed.

+MATUREDATES (sexual maturity dates)
+
+This table records sexual maturity dates, the dates of menarche or
+testicular enlargement. It contains one row for every natal sexually
+mature individual in the groups under observation. Individuals who
+have joined the monitored group after reaching sexual maturity may not
+have a row in this table. (Right Susan, Jeanne? I kinda think not.
+Don't we want to "look" at any individual and tell if they've reached
+sexual maturity? If so, all mature individuals should have a row
+here.)
+
+Matured
+
+The date the individual reached sexual maturity. This is the date of
+menarche for females and the date of testicular enlargement for
+males. All sexually mature individuals should have a non-blank value
+in this column. For females, this date should be the first "T" date
+recorded for the females sexual cycling data in the CYCLES table. See

+estimated as follows: for females; 4.5 years after the birthdate for
+all females except those in Lodge, which are estimated to be 3.5 years

+value means that the sexual maturity date is known from observation.
+But I'm reluctant to say that here as this info should be in the
+procedure manual.) The legal values for this column are defined by
the
+MSTATS support table. See below. This column may not be NULL.
