We should be reading the directions instead of screwing
around trying to figure it out. (Bandwidth makes
all the difference.) I just thought, Duh, we should be
looking at examples. What projects do I know use docbook?
And what pops up but the very answer to our question:
http://tldp.org/LDP/LDP-Author-Guide/html/tools-validate.html#validatexml
from
http://tldp.org/LDP/LDP-Author-Guide/html/tools.html
from
http://tldp.org/LDP/LDP-Author-Guide/html/
And:

from
http://wiki.docbook.org/topic/FrontPage
Moral: It's open source. There's always public examples.
Pick a good example, one done by people who know what
they are doing.
