Dear Babase team members, near and far:

It is once again time for another installment of dysfunctional conference
calls. On this episode, jeanne was out of town, so Daphne, Karl and Steph
were left to their own devices.

Chat 1: Daphne and Steph

Daphne and Steph just did a quick check -in. All is going well on both
ends. Daphne finished updating the dcauses. Yippee! Steph continues the
entry of hybrid scores.

Chat 2: Steph and Karl

This was a very strange call, since both Karl and Steph were on speaker
phone AND steph had to yell at the phone while it was sitting in the
hallway. Why? you might ask. Well, you see, Steph needed to reach her
computer AND talk to Karl. 'Tis a difficult task when there isn't a phone
nearby. But, once again, success was ours. More importantly, you're
probably thinking, is what were they yelling about? Here's the scoop:

We were trying to set up things on Steph's computer for the converting and
error checking. "Putty" was installed, so steph could work on
login.biology.duke.edu. We discovered that the aforementioned babase
worker, steph, does not have access to babase groups. As soon as said
worker (see above) can locate Hunter, this little detail will be fixed. We
also fiddled around (yes, I do believe "fiddled around" is the technical,
computer term) trying to get Karl access so he could see Steph's computer.
Again, we eventually succeeded since Karl informed Steph how to change the
VNC password so he could log-on. (SH! don't tell! Actually, I will confess
this little detail to Hunter when I find him.) Once accomplished, it
allowed Karl to type things and see my computer. Cool, but odd having a
possessed computer. More importantly, Steph got to see what kind of error
report is generated from the conversion program. And clarity is coming (I
can feel it!) as to how I will proceed, at the opportune moment, with the
error checking.

Chat 2, sub-section talk A:
Karl and Daphne
I know Karl and Daphne chatted quickly also. Since I could only hear
Karl's end while on speakerphone, I don't really know the gist of their
conversation. Aforementioned babase team members are asked to report in
any interesting or useful tidbits. You know we're just itchin' to hear!

In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny: That's all folks!
Next week, Daphne will continue the pattern of vanishing from the phone
call fun. So, Steph will just check-in with Karl. After that, the
Princeton squad will return to the fold.

See ya,
steph
