Baboon Foods and the ABRP Herbarium

Often in focal sampling, our observers note specific foods eaten by the baboons. We keep a list of the food codes that observers use to note these (see FOODCODES), but the table lists only that: the food code. To aid observers and visitors with identifying plants, we maintain a herbarium of ~50 plant specimens in Amboseli. This collection is largely due to the work of Stuart Altmann.

Attached to this page (see the "Attachments" link below) is an Excel sheet documenting which specimens are in our collection. This version is accurate as of 13 December 2014, with a single addition made in March 2023. A copy of this sheet should also be saved on the project computer in camp.
